Before you begin cleaning your living make appointments:
The first step is to make appointments for any professional cleaning you need done. I personally prefer to hire an outside window cleaner to clean my windows. It is not that expensive and they do a much better job then what I can do. I feel the same way about the carpet. So step number one is to make appointments with any professionals who will be assisting you in spring cleaning your home.
Declutter and dust your living room
The next step in cleaning your living room is to go through the room with a garbage bag and a basket. Place items that belong in another room in the basket and items that you are pitching in the garbage bag. After you complete this step, it is time to remove and clean all of your knickknacks, picture frames, any books that you have on display... If someone is helping with the cleaning effort, my advice is to have one remove and clean the knickknacks, while the other polishes the wood. I like to use a bucket filled with Murphy's Oil Soap and water, and a rag for cleaning, as it can be used for all surfaces. Make sure you remember to dust ceiling fans, lamp shades and window blinds.
Now it's time to tackle living room furniture and upholstery
Now it is time to get out your vacuum. You will want to remove any pillows and sofa cushions and vacuum underneath the sofa. Spring cleaning your living room is the time to hit all of those places that are often ignored during everyday cleaning. You can either vacuum your drapery or if it needs it remove and take to the drycleaners. If your upholstery needs it get out the upholstery cleaner or enlist the help of a professional upholstery cleaner.
Don't forget to clean the living room floor
The final step for cleaning your living room is to vacuum and clean the carpet. If you have wooden flooring and area rugs you will want to both vacuum the wooden flooring and clean. I like to take my area rugs outside for a few hours to freshen them up. Make sure you vacuum any wood trim, as dust seems to linger there.
This is my guide on how to spring clean your living room quickly and efficiently. While spring cleaning is not something to look forward to, once it is over you will be glad that you put in the effort.
