Spring Cleaning on Earth Day

Kimberley Linstruth-Beckom
It is something I might do.
It's a nice way to celebrate
Gaylord Nelson's reverence for life.
Reuse, recycle, and renew
Your mind, your things,
Your space, and even your air.
It has me thinking of reverence
For my dear footprint,
It's out of touch and out of breath
From all that carbon flowing through it.
An echo says to me step up to the plate and use
Memories of the past
By putting your best elbow forward
In some vinegar.
A bit of Bonami
Might be a refreshing breath of air
With no chlorine, perfume, or dye.
And the Arm can Hammer
Out the odors of winter in a snap too.
Once my fingers are done,
I'll give my thumb a workout
Till it turns green.
Vegetables, flowers, and trees
Are good for the outside,
But I think the English powered Ivy
Would be good for the in,
Absorbing the mold to make breath easy.
Kind of makes me want to
Call upon the Seventh Generation
For even more of a celebration
In my kitchen,
Though, I think I'll look to wallet
Another day so I can give
Green it's proper respect.
