Spring Craft Ideas: Pink Vine Chargers

Landra Lynn Jacobs
Pink is the hottest color trend in home décor right now. These fun pink vine chargers will make a lovely modern addition to your table this Spring for any dinner party or social occasion!

For this project, you will need:

- 10 inch clear charger plate (such as the one found here at Save-On-Crafts)

- Cardboard box

- Pencil

- Self healing mat

- Craft knife

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ballet Slipper

- Shrink paper

- Hot pink colored ink pad

- Fancy script mounted rubber stamp alphabet

- Scissors

- Christine Adolph "Blush Vine Foil" Print Scrapbook Paper (found in stores or online at Paper Addict)

- Craft roller

- Mod Podge or other decoupage medium

- Sponge brush

- Soap and water

- Paper towels

- Newspaper

Cover your work area with newspaper and make sure it is well ventilated. Wash each charger well with soap and water. Dry each charger completely with paper towels.

Lay the shrink paper flat on your self healing mat. With the fancy script mounted rubber stamp alphabet and the hot pink colored ink pad, spell out springtime words and/or phrases. Examples include "blooms", "flower", "spring", etc. Cut out each word individually and shrink as instructed by the paper manufacturer. Cool completely.

Lay the Christine Adolph "Blush Vine Foil" Print Scrapbook Paper flat on your workspace. Turn the plate upside down on the paper and trace with a pencil along the outside. Cut out the shape from the paper using a craft knife. Trim the edges so that the paper circle fits completely on the bottom of the glass charger plate.

Turn the glass charger plate upside down. Apply a thick layer of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to the bottom of the plate using the sponge brush. Place the shrunken words where desired, keeping the script face down so that it shows through the glass. Lay the foil print paper over the top of the words, print side also down. Smooth out any bubbles in the paper using a craft roller. Wipe away any excess glue from the plate with a damp paper towel. Let the glue dry for an hour or longer.

Place the plate upside down in the cardboard box. Spray the charger plate with eight to ten thick coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ballet Slipper, or until the color is thick and even. Allow the charger to dry overnight before using.

TIP: These beautiful chargers are hand wash only when completed.
