Spring Date Ideas in New Jersey

Lauren Romano
New Jersey is a beautiful place with plenty of opportunities for dates. Spring is the perfect season for those that have huddled indoors all winter to get outside and enjoy the wonderful weather. Going on a date should not have to cost a fortune and there is plenty to do during spring in New Jersey that will not cost an exorbitant amount of money.

New Jersey Botanical Garden - Passaic County, North New Jersey

Located as part of the Ringwood State Park in Ringwood, New Jersey, the New Jersey Botanical Garden is ninety-six acres of beauty. It is open year round, from 8am to 8pm and admission is free. Parking is free except during the summer months on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day and also on holidays, in which case it is $5 per car. Weekday parking is still free. They have various types of gardens including the wildflower garden, peony garden and octagonal garden. It is a wonderful place for you and your date to explore during a warm spring day.

Dinner at Jakeabob's Bay - Monmouth County, Central New Jersey

This is one of the most pleasant restaurants that I have ever been to. The portions are large and, when I went, I ended up having enough food for a second meal at home. What makes this restaurant especially nice to go to during spring is that you can eat outside on the pier. The warm breeze, the delicious food and the courteous staff can definitely provide the setting for a perfect date.

Princeton Art Museum - Mercer County, Central New Jersey

From Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the museum is open and offers free admission. It is a small museum, but they offer exhibits that you and your date are sure to love. It is located in the middle of the Princeton University campus and the atmosphere of the entire area is wonderful. Take a walk during the warm spring weather onto Nassau Street where there are plenty of restaurants to eat in and stores to browse through.

Spend the day at a park- North, Central and South New Jersey

There are plenty of parks all over New Jersey, but look for one that has a lot to offer. Have a spring picnic, play some catch and get an ice cream from an ice cream truck. As an extra activity, take your dog to a dog park, or go even if you do not have a dog. Looking at dogs running around can make you smile and it is fun to spend some time watching their antics and interactions with the other animals.

Some dog parks in New Jersey that have separate runs for large and small dogs:

Lyndhurst Dog Park, Riverside County Park - Bergen County, North Jersey
Wantage Dog Park- Sussex County, North Jersey
East Brunswick Dog Park- Middlesex County, Central Jersey
Cooper River Dog Run in Cherry Hill - Camden County, South Jersey

Wild West City in Netcong New Jersey - Morris County - North Jersey

It is an area that brings you back in time. They offer a Main Street that resembles Dodge City, Kansas in 1880, a stagecoach ride, a train ride, barnyard zoo, pony ride, miniature golf, and panning for gold. While some of the activities are included with admission, some require a small extra fee. The initial admission price is $13.50 for each adult and there is free parking. It is an opportunity for you and your date can experience something new and different together.

Take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather, great company, and a picturesque setting all rolled into one.
