Expecting overnight visitors forr Spring break? Can't wait to fill your home with friends and family this Summer? Now is the time to give that guest room a seasonal makeover and make it as inviting as possible to your loved ones. It doesn't take a padded bank account to bring that space to life this Spring. You need only a bit of creativity and and an eye towards comfort and the simple beauty of the season.

Replace Heavy Comforters with Lovely Quilts. Stripthe guest room bed of the heavy comforters and blankets that were necessary for winter. Replace them with lighter weight quilts that have a colorful pattern in seasonal colors. No need to spend a fortune at department stores or specialty shops; scour the local Thrift and Consignment stores for ones that had previous owners but still have plenty of life left in them. If you are lucky enough, you may be able to find a set that includes matching pillow shams. Be sure to purchase the correct size for your bed and pick up an extra one to lay across the foot.

Make Good Use of Pastel Colors. The colors of Spring are lighter and brighter than the previous season. A few throw pillows in light pink, yellow, blue, green or lavender will instantly brighten up your guest room. A throw rug, lampshade or picture frames in these hues will add a pop of Spring color to this well used room.

Bring Nature Indoors. The smallest plant or flower adds energy and the calming properties of nature to an indoor room. Add a simple bouquet of fresh flowers or seedling tray of budding plants to a shelf or windowsill. Hang a hardy plant on a hook over a window. Place a tall glass of cuttings from an adult bloom on an end table. Any symbol of the growth and rebirth of Spring added to your guest room will change the aura of the room and brighten the mood of it's inhabitants.

Add Seasonal Scents with Flair. Winter calls for cinnamon, pumpkin and cranberry candles and potpourri. Once Spring rolls around, the spirit is in need of lighter and more energizing aromas. Fill votive and pillar candle holders with gardenia, lilac and citrus fruit scents. Think about the scents that make you feel more alive and stimulated and choose your candles accordingly. Fill bowls and dishes with treated potpourri that will greet your guests in a refreshing and welcoming way.

Compile a Stack of Inspirational Reading. Spring is the season of new beginnings. Nature is reborn in a beautiful way and the soul should follow suit. Add a few volumes of beautiful poetry, tales of the miraculous power of the human spirit or religious tomes to the nightstand or bookshelf. Your guests can retire for the evening and enjoy a few lines or chapters of books that speak of renewal, rebirth and the beauty of life and love.
