Spring Flower Garden Cake: Perfect for Wedding Showers

This Spring Flower Garden cake is perfect for a wedding or bridal party for adults or birthday party for kids. It makes a great centerpiece on a wedding shower buffet as well. To start making your Spring Flower Garden cake you need to do a little preparation. After preparation is over I will give assembling instructions.

First, bake you brownie or cake in a 9" X 13" pan. Let it cool. Flip it over onto a serving platter. If you don't have a cute serving platter suitable for spring you can flip you cake over on a cutting board wrapped with aluminum foil. I like to make sure that the serving platter is a few inches larger than the brownie or cake so that the edible crafts can spill over past the edges.

To make the spring flowers lay a graham cracker on a microwave able plate. Microwave for about 20 second (this can vary depending on the microwave). Use your paring knife to cut out the spring flower shapes. Daisies, roses, and tulips are e all great shapes. The microwave simply softens the graham cracker, making it easy to cut. Let your spring flowers harden and cool off. Just think of this as a flat flower shape like you might draw on a piece of paper.

Mix a few drops of green food coloring into one cup of white icing. You want to make a grass pastel green color. Use this to ice the top of you cake or brownie. Cover the sides as well. Don't worry about making it perfectly flat, because the lumpier the better.

You can also use this icing to paint the stems of your spring flower garden. Let them dry.

Now, mix some red or blue food coloring with some white icing to make flower petal colors. Use a clean paint brush to paint the tops f your flowers. Let them dry as well.

Now, place the Spring Flower Garden made of graham crackers and icing around on your cake. Use your ground up or crushed Oreo cookies to sprinkle in front of the Spring Flower Garden and around the ground like dirt. This will look like mound of freshly dug garden dirt.

Now you can start adding a lot of Spring Garden details to your themed cake. Use more graham crackers cut into he shape of a garden fence around the edge of the cake. You could paint it white with icing like a white washed fence.

Green icing can be piped on with a piping bag or a zip loc bag to look like wilting grass.
