Each December the people who know color, Pantone, unveil the color of the following year. For 2012, that color is Tangerine Tango. While shades of orange have been visible in fashion for the past few seasons, orange became a hit last spring as the bold lip color to try. Now for 2012 it is the color trend in both fashion and beauty. Check out some hot ways to wear Tangerine Tango and its complementary colors from the spring palette.

The Tangerine Tango Spring 2012 Color Palette

Tangerine is a dark, yet vibrant orange that is a classic summer shade. It is now in the spotlight for 2012 as Pantone's Color of the Year. However, this reddish-orange hue is not the only hot color for the coming spring season. Check out the rest of the Spring Tangerine Tango palette:

Spring and summer are when the skin naturally takes on a warm flush of color as the weather gets warmer. A ripe, pinch of tangerine color on the cheeks will add warmth and a pop of color to the face. Since tangerine is a warm color it complements skin tones from fair to deep. Pair those ripened cheeks with a fruit punch lip and a shimmering pastel eye with a bold upper lash line for a vibrant look this spring.

A Bright Citrus Eye is Bold for Spring

Tangerine makes the biggest and most stunning impact when used on the lips or cheeks for a pop of color. However, don't be afraid to go bold and wear this hot color on your eyes as well. A bold citrus eye goes well with the pale luminous glow seen on the spring 2012 runways last September. When going this bold and bright with eye color it is best to keep lips neutral or pale and cheeks at a pale flush or bare. As I am always one for improvising and know that it may be a bit difficult to find a tangerine eyeshadow, I recommend substituting a tangerine blush or lip color as your eyeshadow. It's all about making it work!
