Spring Restaurant, located at 2039 West North Avenue, in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood bid adieu to its patrons and the community after being in business for ten years. I'm sad to see it go, because it was one of my favorite restaurants and we would go there once every couple months, and I would always get the gnocchi and the salad with brussel sprouts. My boyfriend would get, the sea scallops, and sometimes the eggplant. When we found out that Spring was closing on New Year's Eve, we were disappointed because we already had plans, but wanted to at least stop by to wish Shawn McClain good luck. Shawn was the chef/owner, also owns the Green Zebra restaurant located in the West Town neighborhood, and he is considering opening a new Green Zebra in another location.

Shawn McClain states, "I'm closing one chapter and will look at my future and see what I can build on." He also goes on to say that "I'D like to maybe have one or two more projects. I want to see what my options are." McClain also has a very successful restaurant in Las Vegas, called Sage. Prior to opening Spring, McClain was the executive chef at the Evanston restaurant Trio, but it was with Spring that got brought him the greatest accolades. We will miss Spring, but hope that Shawn embarks on yet another successful project in Chicago for all to enjoy.
