Spring Scents for Your Home! Review of Yankee Candle, Home Classics Lemon Cupcake Candle

Melanie Dee
I am beyond excited that the spring season has finally approached, and whenever the sun is shining and I am home I begin to think about my spring garden, the smell of flowers, and growing fresh fruits and vegetables.

I wanted to bring spring to the home a little bit faster than waiting for a garden to grow, and I know there is no easier way to sneak in the essence of spring early, than by using a scented candle to capture a mood or a season.

While browsing around my local Target I came across a selection of new scented candles by Yankee Candle. I had stopped buying Yankee Candles ages ago though, due to them not being as potent as they were years ago. However the name of this candle was Lemon Cupcake, and before even popping the top I could smell it just by thinking about it.

When I did yank the top off of the glass jar, I was greeted with the same mouth watering delicious scent that I was imagining before even smelling it.

Lemon Cupcake smells like a beautiful delicious baked mix of fresh lemon cake batter, with a nice mix of sweet vanilla to really give it that lemon custard burnt offering type fragrance. It smells so delicious I was tempted to taste it.

The price of this new scent though was high, and I worried about the candle actually producing that same delicious potent scent it did in the jar. From recent experience with Yankee (and the reason I stopped buying them), as soon as the candle was lit, the scent would be nonexistent.

There was no way I was spending nearly $20 on this jar without at least knowing how it burned, and if it would even disperse the scent through my home, or a small room.

I decided on the smaller sample candle in Lemon Cupcake. I figured if it did not smell that good when burning, I would have saved myself $20, and if it did smell good, I'd go back for the larger glass jar.

Overall:

When I got home with my new Yankee Candle, Home Classics Lemon Cupcake Candle, I lit the wick and waited for the scent to begin to flow through the air.

It took around 15 minutes of bun time to really begin to smell the lemon cupcake fragrance, but once it hit the air, it began to lightly douse it in this gorgeous fragrance.

The scent, however, was not as potent as I was expecting, but at least it was present, at a weaker note, but still noticed.

All in all Lemon Cupcake is a good spring fragrance for your home, and the scent does in fact make itself known once the candle is burning. The scent of course weakens a bit, but its still obvious and true to what you smell in the jar candle when you first sniff test it in the store.

I'll wait for this one to go on sale though, as the price is still too high to justify buying it, considering that many lemon custard scented candles give off a very similar scent, with the same potency and last.
