Spring and Summer 2011 Women's Swimsuit Trends

And a Look at a Few Designer Collections

Alexandra Morgan
Ladies swimwear trends for spring and summer 2011 are colorful, fun, and extremely sexy. Among the trends we are seeing: nature-inspired tribal prints, mix and match two-piece tops and bottoms in solids and clashing prints, and of course the trend of the year...florals.

Overall the prĂȘt-a-porter lines deliver a few more modest options than the revealing sultry runway styles which favor skimpy triangle bikinis and ultra-revealing monokinis

Other Trends of Note:

Strapless one-pieces

Bandeau style two-piece tops

Ruffles

Bows

Sweetheart necklines

Tulle (yes, even tulle as we also saw in the bridal wear trends for 2011).

Mara Hoffman Swimwear Mara Hoffman's line offers a Pocahontas meets Mrs. Shaka Zulu take on swimwear. Deep V-necklines, strapless one-pieces, tribal prints, and geometric patterns. Mara Hoffman's color scheme could have been much more vivid to play up these natural themes and draw attention to the suit more; the suits are tasteful and elegant but just a bit drab. You can view the collection, here.

Saha Swimwear I discovered this line from womenfashiontrends.com and was immediately drawn in by the claim that Saha offers a collection for big busted women. I myself am busty and have trouble finding a swimsuit that makes me look anything other than tastelessly unclothed, so I was eager to see if this line would provide the help needed.

Animal prints and geometric prints in fuchsia, purple, aquamarine, and blue decorate the Saha line of expertly cut swimsuits, each with plenty of support and underwire for big breasted women; even the strapless one-piece looks sturdy enough to do the job.

Maaji Swimwear One of the more interesting collections of the year is Maaji's " Flying Tales " collection which features swimsuits inspired by the concept of mythical heroines, with titles such as, Mighty Wings and Whimsical Sky.

Some of the two-piece swimsuits offer a matching look but many show off a mix and match meshing of patterns and each is reversible for twice the fun. This line packs a wallop of va va va voom sex appeal and tons of color and pattern eye candy.

Remember to use sunscreen ladies because most of these fashions leave a lot of skin exposed for potential burning!
