Spring/ Summer Fashion Preview: Cardboard Robot

M. Maiero
For those of you who are looking for quality fashion that remains grounded commercially while striving to make a postmodern comment on society, the upcoming spring line from Cardboard Robot is surely worth checking out. Cardboard robot has everything from shirts, shoes, and accessories for both men and women.

Perhaps I should have said 'for both boys and girls...' Cardboard robot is all about dressing young this spring, so if you're trying to sneak into a bar underage, it might not be the best idea to sport some of their gear. This also implies that, yes, Cardboard Robot has most likely already been spotted on some scum-sucking celeb that you probably loathe.

But, for those of you with a certain aesthetic, it can be easy to look at the Cardboard Robot spring clothing and not take it too seriously. The artwork-- and I do stress artwork-- is exceptionally good and, teamed up with the proper fit, can really accentuate your wardrobe and adorn all the right bulges.

What might be the most acceptable attribute of the Cardboard Robot spring clothing line is that it simply isn't too loud. While many of the designs utilize strong lines and colors, the designs themselves can prove to be relatively abstract because of how they are printed on the garments. That means you won't be sending out the wrong message, like when you wear your I'M NAUGHTY shirt. But similar problems might arise with Cardboard Robot clothing.

Of course, like all clothing, you just might send out the wrong message and you might end up insulted. Cardboard robot clothing, specifically the spring release, reflects a big-city image and, if you're currently residing in a small town, that means trouble. If you're a girl, you might be judged as a snob (or even worse, a skank). And, of course, with anything that is generally artistic by nature, this leads to a sexually ambiguous image for guys.

So, depending on how you like your clothing-- either low-key or big-city-style-- Cardboard Robot is an underground brand with a good-looking spring line that is worth checking out; then you can judge it for yourself. And, who knows, you might just end up sporting one of Cardboard Robot's garments-- say, maybe a funky, printed t-shirt or, if you're a girl, maybe some brightly-colored grenade barettes. Either way, take a look and you can make a fashion-forward decision.
