Spring is just around the corner for those of is in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area and you know what that means. We will be getting out of the house more often as the snows melt off and the temperatures come up. For those of us who love the theatre culture of the Twin Cities there is a fantastic schedule of spring works coming for us to see.

For those that have kids there is always the fantastic Children's Theatre Company. They are currently in their 44th season of bringing wonderful kid friendly theatre to the Minneapolis area. They use local actors and really bring to you a sense of community. On the stage until March 21st 2010 is According to Coyote by John Kauffman.

According to Coyote is a series of vignettes following the misadventures of the storyteller, actor, dancer and musician. It is a fantastic way to weave Native American Lore into theatre. The performance is part superhero and part comic perfect for any age.

Known for running more than one production at once Children's Theatre is also showing a play called Iron Ring until April 10th 2010 Adapted by Charles Way and Based on the book by Lloyd Alexander. This fantastic epic Indian adventure is told through the dance of agama Music and Dance Theatre. It is rooted in the mythology of ancient India and follows young King Tamar into a voyage full of comedy, challenge and adventure.

Disney's Mulan Jr. is the next story up on the schedule for the Children's Theatre and is due to hit the stage April 27th and stay until June 13th 2010 this is one of the final shows of the season. Go back to the days of Ancient china and follow the action packed stage production of one of the greatest stories from China. Follow Mulan as she takes over her ailing Father's army against the invading Huns to save everything she holds dear.

Last but not least for the Children's Theatre 44th season is a fantastic play suited for preschoolers The Biggest Little House in the Forest adapted by Rosanna Staffa and Based on the book by Djemma Bider. This production will be on the stage from April 27th until June 20th 2010 and should not be missed. Bernice the butterfly finds an abandoned house in the woods which she than decides to make her home. She is not alone in this venture and is soon joined by Millie the mouse, Fred the frog, Richie the rabbit and Rudy the rooster. Problems arise however when Bartholomew the bear comes knocking on the door. If you want more information on any of the shows being put on by the Children's Theatre visit their online website.

Now for the adults who want to go out and have a night out without the kids, there is plenty of good theatre to be had for you too. The new fantastic Guthrie has the historic feel of the old one with all the modern benefits of the new location. To go along with this they have the full calendar of events.

Currently on the stage and staying there until April 3rd 2010 is the Shakespearean classic Macbeth. This is a classic tale of treachery and ambition. Macbeth is a brave soldier and a nobleman who encounters the weird sisters who make a prophesy about his path to greatness. Of course when the predictions begin to come true they hatch a plot to kill the King and that is when things begin to fall apart because one murder is never enough to secure a throne. This is a classic story brought to life in a fantastic rendition and cannot be missed.

Also currently on the stage until March 21st 2010 is the story of Violet. Taking you back to the Deep South in the early days of the civil rights movement, you find yourself swept up in this uplifting musical.
