Spring TV Shows for Single Moms
In the Motherhood
News broke on January 26, 2009 revealing when this new comedy about single moms would air. There had been rumor and speculation, but the rumors were solidified as facts that In the Motherhood would be airing on Thursday nights this spring. In the Motherhood premieres on Thursday March 26, 2009.
The comedy about single moms grew from a web series with the same name, according to ABC. The show features story lines that are drawn from real stories from real moms, who have posted their stories to the Inthemotherhood.com website.
The show about single mom stars Megan Mullaly of Will & Grace Fame. Also starring on In the Motherhood are Cheryl Hines, from Curb Your Enthusiasm and Jessica St. Clair.
In the Motherhood is one of the few comedies premiering this spring on network TV. It will be paired with the Christina Applegate vehicle, Samantha Who? The comedy will go up against NBC's My Name is Earl.
The New Adventures of Old Christine
The mom and woman that Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays on The New Adventures of Old Christine is not half as likable as Elaine was on Seinfeld. Yet it's hard not to tune in and see what kind of a train wreck * has created for herself each week. Christine is a working mom who is divorced and faces issues related to feeling inadequate, aging, and, committing a faux pas whenever she opens her mouth.
The New Adventures of Old Christine airs on Wednesday nights at 8pm on CBS.
Heroes
Claire Bennett, the cheerleader, the former catalyst, has a complicated family life. Her real mom is a single mom, Meredith Gordon, who has the the power of pyrokinesis. This single mom spent much of her life believing her daughter had died. The two were reunited and continue to interact in dangerous situations. Claire is still loyal to her adopted mom and and her dad.
New episodes of Heroes start on Monday, Monday February 2, 2009. The season continues with 9pm EST episodes on Monday nights.
Lost: Single Moms Kate and Claire
Two more single TV moms who share a child are ClaireLittleton and Kate Austen on Lost. While Claire may made a ghostly appearance in a dream sequence in the Lost premiere, she is not expected back until next season. Claire is the single mom who had all intentions of giving up her baby for adoption.
Kate has become the adoptive parent of little Aaron, and is posing as a single mom. While she has no biological connection to Aaron., Kate has been trying to be a responsible parent. Unfortunately for Aaron, Kate has still not matured enough to learn how and when to tell the truth and not to run. She still tries to do everything on her own, although the strongest of single moms know when to ask for help.
If Kate would just smarten up and tell Jack the truth about he lawyer that came to the house to get blood samples from Kate and Aaron, part of the problem could be solved. Jack has discovered that Claire is is half-sister, which makes Aaron a blood relative. Under the circumstances, Jack could have some legal rights to Aaron.
New episodes of Lost air on ABC on Wednesday nights at 9pm.
The Real Housewives of New York
KellyKilloren Bensimon is the newest housewife to join the cast of the posh, sophisticates on The Real Housewives of New York. Kelly Killoren Bensimon was formerly married to Gilles Bensimon.
She is a working mom who is also a published author and former editor of Elle Accessories. This now single mom is a role model for single moms who want to take care of their children while sustaining a luxurious and fulfilling career.
The Real Housewives of New York Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 on 10pm, on Bravo.
