I am always on the look out for quick and easy lunches. I eat lunch at my desk, so clean and simple is a requirement, along with taste and quality. Priced at $2.45, I purchased this entree at Meijer for only $2.09. Not a bad price for a quick lunch at the office. The serving size is 10 oz (283g). The pictures on many other packages have fooled me, so I was a little wary. Carrots, being the least expensive item in these dishes, are often used as the filler. I decided to take a chance on another dish with carrots. This entree' was a little heavy on carrots but not unpleasantly as some are. This dish was about 50% carrots with equal portions of the remaining ingredients. It was a good mix. The citrus sauce could have been a bit stronger. I had to add salt and butter to pump up the flavor a little
This dish could not be any easier to prepare. It comes in a large steaming tray covered with a special steam vent that allows the veggies to steam to perfection right in the container. Do not cut the plastic though or you will mess up the whole system! There is a "steam vent" that allows proper circulation of the steam through out the container. Pop the container in the microwave for a few minutes; the result is nicely steamed vegetables in less than 6 minutes. Let it stand for a full minute after taking it out though. I noticed a difference when I did not wait.
The vegetables were very fresh tasting and of good quality. I was very pleased with the portion as this was all I brought for lunch. However, if used as part of a full meal, this will easily serve two, possibly three people.
Another plus is the nutritional value. According to the package label, the container holds 2.5 servings. Each serving is only 70 calories and 10mg of cholesterol. The sodium is a little high for me at 280mg, but overall it is a good diet choice if you are watching your weight or your cholesterol.
The real judge of quality; will I but this one again? Yes, I will.
