Spring Wedding Makeup Ideas

According to the National Wedding Association, 50% of newlyweds prefer exchanging their nuptials during the pleasant months of spring. Since spring is often associated with new beginnings it makes sense that brides would prefer these auspicious months. To look her absolute best at her spring wedding, the bride and bridal party should choose makeup colors and styles that make her look fresh and young. Spring wedding makeup should reflect the fresh colors of spring without looking too heavy or vibrant.

Spring Wedding Eye Makeup

As a bride, you want to hear things like, "The bride is glowing" or "Isn't she lovely?' For spring brides the emphasis is on her eyes. Play up the feature of the day with spring wedding eye makeup that will make your eyes sparkle. Try these eye makeup colors at your spring wedding.

Periwinkle: Periwinkle is that understated purple that so many are afraid of but during spring, it is perfect. For the bride who isn't afraid of color, periwinkle is the best choose. Cover the eyes with a vanilla or sand tone. If your skin tone is darker select a light copper or nude eyeshadow. Follow up the flat color with periwinkle shadow in the crease of the eye as an accent. Depending on your eye shape you could place the periwinkle shadow at just the corner or over the entire crease. Use a slim eyeshadow brush and bring the periwinkle color under your lower lashes.

Rose: Soft pinks look good on any bride on almost any skin tone. Keep your spring wedding makeup soft and simple with a single shade of pink on the lower lids. An earthy brown eyeliner will make your eyes look soft and warm.

Canary yellow: Who would think that yellow would make a good eyeshadow? We didn't until we started checking out some pretty canary yellow shades. Choose a waterproof eyeshadow that won't move around if you tear up during your wedding vows. Place the shade all over the eye or just the lower lid. This eyeshadow color is perfect for a morning or mid-morning wedding.

In all instances, you should use white eyeliner to open up the eye. Roll on the eyeliner into the rim of the lower eye. Avoid rimming the eyes with dark eyeliner. This kind of application isn't right for a wedding.

Spring Wedding Cheek Makeup

A natural looking cheek color will make you look as if your face has just a touch of color. Blush the apples or the cheekbones with a creamy blush. The perfect spring shades are peach, apricot or rose blush. For women who like a natural look, a bronzer makes the perfect blusher.

Finish spring wedding makeup with clear or white-tipped fingernails. Tuck some fresh or silk spring flowers in your bridal coiffure and you will look wedding ready!
