Beck Chapel: Located on the campus of Indiana University, Beck Chapel is a local favorite for small and intimate weddings. Built in 1956 from Indiana limestone and native lumber, it is the perfect backdrop for a sweet and simple ceremony. Its quaint and beautiful setting will give your wedding a home-town feel. Beck Chapel is nondenominational and accepting of couples of all faiths, nationalities and orientation. Contact (812)855-1808 for more information.
McCormick's Creek State Park: Located just outside of Bloomington in the beautiful hills of Owen County, McCormick's Creek State Park is a great location for an outdoor spring wedding. It offers many areas that will allow nature to take a role in your special day. Aside from the beautiful open outdoor spaces around the park, McCormick's Creek has multiple recreation buildings that are available by reservation. The CCC Recreation Building, one such enclosed structure, seats 75 people. The building offers electricity, outlets, a commercial stove, refrigerator, sinks, and a modern toilet. Parking is available in front of the CCC Recreation Building, as well as in the parking lot across the street. The historic Canyon Inn, just down the road, is a wonderful option for housing out-of-town guests and, if you prefer an indoor reception (or wedding, for that matter), the banquet room will accommodate your wants and needs. For more information, call (812)829-2235 or visit their website here.
Woolery Stone Mill: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this stone company began quarrying in 1930. It's famous in Bloomington, since scenes were filmed here for the movie "Breaking Away". The mill itself closed in 1994, but they occasionally rent it out for special events. There have been weddings there in the past, and the industrial feel against the beautiful landscape--including lush grounds and a fountain--lends itself to a spring wedding. Contact the Bloomington Visitor's Bureau for more information.
These are just a few of the many venues for a beautiful spring wedding in Bloomington, Indiana. The multiple parks and lakes around the area, as well as the unique scenery and cultural feel of the town, will help make your wedding day everything you dreamed it could be.
