In my recent trip to Williamsburg, VA I stayed at the Springhill Marriott. Boy was that a mistake. The arrangements were made through my husbands work. Before the trip ever began I had gone on line and checked out the reviews for this hotel. They were not good. All the reviews that I saw were very similar and I had asked my husband if he had checked them out and if whoever does their reservations was aware that this particular hotel had bad reviews. Apparently when people make their hotel reservations they only look at the star rating. This would be a mistake.

Springhill Suites in Williamsburg look nice on paper with all the amenities and the pictures are gorgeous. It is a really nice looking hotel in person as well, but it's what you can see on the Internet that has ruined this hotel. When we first arrived it was a very nice in the lobby area and the room seemed very clean and well kept.

In our attempts to get settled in we realized that the air conditioning was not working. It just would not turn on. We called down to the front desk and they promptly had a maintenance person come up and look at it. We had headed off to dinner while this problem was being addressed. Upon our return we found the air was back on, we thought. There was at least air moving from the vent. During the night we discovered that the air conditioner only blew air out it was not cooling. The next morning speaking to the rest of the group they had the same problem with their ac it ran but not cold.

We had plans to go to the pool and hot tub, but when we got down there the hot tub had been closed and the pool should have been closed. The hot tub had sand all over it and inside of it and the pool was so cloudy that you could not even see the bottom. In fact my husband is in paramedic training and was to do drills in the pool during his stay. They had to speak to the instructor and find a different pool to do their training in because the one at their hotel was so disgusting.

To their advantage the beds and linens were unbelievable comfortable and the appearance of the hotel was nice. It was the lack of maintenance on their part that ruined this hotel for me.

This is a beautiful hotel that is not properly run. I would expect in a few years that they wouldn't even be able to keep up the appearance that they now have. It is a shame that people pay $160.00 a night to stay in such a poorly maintained hotel. This hotel has a great location with Applebee's and Chili's directly in front of them and a several other great restaurants in a short walking distance. I will never stay at this hotel again and would definitely encourage others to do the same.

Reminds me of the commercial "you make your reservations, check it out on line and then open the door" I hate it when that happens.
