Spring's Arrival

Donna Cavanagh

Our faces will feel the warmth of the sun
The mornings will usher in a bright day
Colors of spring will dazzle our eyes
And we will say goodbye to winter's gray

In the cold and stormy moment
When all we see is icy white
The warmth of spring eludes our hearts
The blue skies fade from our sight

But through the snow we will see a blade
A welcome sign that winter's end is near
Beneath the ice mantle, the grass turns green
And waits for its chance to once again appear

The mounds of snow will melt away
Ice-laden branches will bud and bloom
Spring will find its way back to us again
And save us from winter's gloom

Wonderful poem. Spring cannot come fast enough. Sick of snow and ready for flowers.

Great poem. Hope your Spring comes soon. We are in Summer here in Oz with chaotic, destructive weather. I love the onset of Autumn (Fall) and our Aussie winter which is so mild I don't own a coat.

I love your use of words and I need spring to burst wide open. The sun appears to be shining here in Pennsylvania today and tomorrow, but it can quickly turn on a dime.
