Sprint Cell Phone Service Review

How Sprint has Worked for Us

Heather Shockney
We have had Sprint as our cell phone company for three years now. While we have been very pleased with the actual cell phone coverage and features we are not so happy with their customer service. While it all started out simple enough we went in the Sprint store and choose our phones then we had to decide which plan to go with .We picked the family fair and flexible plan. It gave us around 600 anytime minutes to use a month and free nights and weekends that started after nine at night.

We choose to go with the free nights and weekends that start at 7 pm since I worked during that time and it was more convenient .So we get our plan and were ready to go. Our monthly Sprint bill was around $70.00 a month. This included the extra five-dollar charge for starting the night minutes earlier. We also took the warranty program for six dollars a month on the phone since my husband works construction and its not unusual for the phone to fall off a roof or high ladder. We didn't have any problems for the first few months we had the sprint service. We had great cell phone coverage and seemed to have service wherever we went. Then one day my husband broke the antenna off the phone so we took it in to be repaired. After examining the phone the people at the Sprint store said it could be fixed, that it was no problem.

The Sprint guy tried and tried to get the old antenna off the phone. It wouldn't budge and then the phone broke completely. So they replaced it with a brand new phone the same as the one we had. Didn't even charge us anything .We were very pleased. This was short lived however when a week later we found we had no service in areas we used to have great reception. So we called their customer service line and explained what was going on. They informed us we needed to update the programming in the phone .So they tried to do this unsuccessfully several times, when they came to the conclusion that there must be something wrong with the phone as it wouldn't allow any updates to be loaded. So we had to go back to the Sprint store and get another phone. This time they gave us a refurbished phone. We were not so thrilled about this but they guaranteed it would be fine. It was for about twelve months.

Then the screen on the cell phone started to turn black. It got so bad you couldn't even see anything on it. This made using the phone a real nuisance .We called the Sprint customer service and told them the problem we were having and wondered about getting a new phone. They informed us we would have to purchase a new phone at regular cost. This didn't make much sense since we had their service long enough to earn the Credit toward buying a new phone. We had $150.00 to use when purchasing a new sprint phone, or so we thought. The Sprint customer service representative told us we didn't qualify because we hadn't had the service long enough. This was untrue we had been Sprint customers for two years now. After repeated calling to Sprints customer service we were told we had been with them for two years but the to times we had to exchange the phone they renewed our contract.

This was ridiculous we hadn't gave anyone permission to extend our time with sprint. They then informed us that anytime you do anything with your plan or phone to make any changes you have to renew your contact unless you are in the first three months of signing your original contract. My husband asked to speak to a manager they wouldn't transfer him. Instead they said that someone would call us back in 24 hours to discuss what could be done to make things right. Two weeks later we had still not heard from anyone so I began researching to find another number for Sprint. I had some luck I came across the number to the Sprint headquarters. We called them and they were all very polite and apologized for the customer service reps being so rude toward us.

We told them what had happened with the phone and the contract and they took care of everything. Sprint provided us with a new phone (a better phone) and gave us a better deal on the next level in the Sprint fair and flexible plan and readjusted the contact date. We haven't had any issues with our Sprint cell phone since then. We're very pleased with the actual Sprint coverage plan and we usually have great service no matter where we are, but their customer service needs some improving.

Sprint is worst cell phone provider of all time. I have been with sprint for 5 wasted years, i would have saved thousands of dollars with someone else. You never know how much bill to expect. With three lines on the plan, my bill was averaging between $300.00 to $500.00 per month. Please don't join sprint....there are companies out there with much more better and competitive prices.

I am a new Sprint ceullular customer and have been so displeased with the billing and misrepresentation. This is my third monthly bill and have had to spend time on the phone every month getting my phone bill straightened out and the charges corrected. I went with Sprint because of comments on their good customer service but I have only found the opposite to be true! I travel weekly and inquired about roaming charges at the time I purchased phone/plan. My plan "supposedly" does not charge for roaming, but here is the catch. When you are out of town frequently my phone is on roaming and I was told not to worry because my plan has free roaming BUT when you are roaming it goes against your "anytime minutes" even if it is cell phone to cell phone (which should be free) or on evening or weekend. Such a rip off as I incurred an additonal $173 on my bill last month. Don't go with Sprint. I wish I had stayed with AT&T with rollover minutes and I never encounted this costly issue with AT&T. Countdown until my contract is up with Sprint so I can change providers!

  • 20 years as a customer, but no help provided1/6/2011

I have been using Sprint for at least 20 years, with no problems. Now an emergency has come up. My phone is not working properly, ie: not able to make or receive calls, dropped calls, voice mails coming in 2 hours after the fact. I need my phone for EMERGENCIES ON CALL DUTIES for my job. I was on the the phone for over one hour with a female trying to get help to get problem solved, even made suggestions, asked questions as to what could be done, was even willing to take a temporary loss to get problem solved, only to be told there is nothing that could be done. Then click. I was hung up on. Now mind you, I kept explaining that if something could be worked out, I could make it to a Sprint store before closing. Didn't happen. Had to call back. Now stores are closed, no phone, and as I explained, if a call comes through and I can't receive it, I could lose my job. Upon call back.I spoke with a nice young man who was very quick and helpful, albeit to late for that now, but after o

That's not what the rep who added the 3 new lines told me! Of course now we can't terminate the lines, because it is passed the 30 days (which is when your bill is generated to see those charges).
I also noticed that they added insurance to my old phones which I had not made any changes to.
Beware of other charges like strange text messaging services that appear out of no where. When I called Sprint about it, they said they will remove it...I took the phone to the store and they assured me i was not subscribed to it. But then, next month, the same thing happens again!
Sprint is VERY sloppy with their charges and the customer Service branch is impatient and rude. One or two reps have been nice, which I definitely tell their supervisors. But the vast majority (usually when there is an issue with a bill), tend to connect you to different depts that then bounce you to the next or disconnect you.

I have the data plan with Sprint which costs me over $300/month. I have been with their service for over 2 years and am considered a PREMIER account, which is supposed to mean I am a valuable customer who spends a lot of money with Sprint. As I added more lines to my service, the sneaky charges have appeared. First off, customer service tells you there is a promotion for no activation fees, so I added 3 more lines. I made sure that they document in my account that there won't be any activation fee. What a surprise when the bill arrives and there are 3 activation fees. I called them up, and the rep said there is no promotion like that, and that there was no note on my account about no activation fee. Luckily I had printed up a copy of the online ad that shows no fees, and I told the rep this. The rep changes his story and said that only new services added online have no activation charges. Bogus! That's not what the rep who added the 3 new lines told me! Of course now we can

See I have no problems with Sprint and their coverage. The problem I am having- is the fact that I have been paying over 100 dollars on sprints plan when they own BOOST MOBILE! Boost mobile has a prepaid cellphone that offers a 50 dollars deal unlimited. Imfurious. absolutely mad. Sprint tries and hides this from u when you are negotiating your bill. BOOst has no contracts and hidden things! What has my money been going to?
i suggest checking out this website and writing to the president. Then more people can save money in this horrific time of economic problems.

I was with another major carrier for years but the customer service and increasing fees really left a bad taste in my mouth. I decided to take my mom's advice and give Sprint a try and I have to say, the calling network is amazing!

The savings are definte over my previous carrier where I was paying more than $110 a month for an IPhone based plan - Sprint's $69.99 unlimited everything plan is helping me save more than $40 a month and the selection of phones is great and pretty affordable.

Their 4G network is pretty awesome - I have great coverage in Miami (a mjaor plus) and no roaming charges. So far, Sprint has been a great money saving and time saving tool. But not everyone is as lucky as me to make such a choice.

But there is an option being offered by Boost's sister company, Virgin Mobile via Sprint, that has real potential to help a lot of people and should be getting more news coverage.

Their "Assurance Wireless" program is being in offered in five states a

seems like Sprint is willing to give free phones to get new customers but not give me, a 3 year customer, the same deal. Not fair!!

I'm wondering if Sprint is a good company or not.... Yes or no? ;)

Has anyone heard about Sprint's new Assurance program? You get 200 free minutes/month for just $10! All you do is send an email to the President of the company (Mr.Hesse) and say something like "I'm a Spring customer and I want to get the free 200 minutes/month for $10 deal through your Assurance service. Even though its only for low income support, I think I derserve to save money too just like these new customers." You can get the email address from the link below. Its really too good of a deal to pass up!
