Every time you receive an instant message the program would send a text message to your phone with a web link to the instant message for you to read. The drawback to this is that during the course of just one conversation you would receive hundreds of text messages and this can be very costly if you do not have a text plan. Since I did not have unlimited text I found that my bill would go up about $10 a month by using this service. Also, it uses the web browser and this will cost you some money if you do not have the unlimited data plan that Sprint sells for $15 a month. I have this plan so it just ran me the extra charges from the text messages.
When I got my new LG Lotus phone I tried to use this AOL instant messenger program as I did previously on my older phone and I found that it was not available. Instead a downloadable instant messenger program that did not cost anything to download to my phone replaced it. This was great for me because I no longer had to use my web browser to get online. I was able to click the program and type in my information and I was signed on in seconds. However, I found that when I receive messages I would not get them delivered for hours at some points. The messaging is slow and this causes me to miss important information and not be able to communicate with people instantly as I would like. This is a program which looks great but needs a lot of work to get things right.
