Sprites, Mortals & Green Beer

A St. Patrick's Day Poem

Cathy A Montville
Be forewarned if you wear the green
By faerie eyes you will be seen
They may just snatch you up and steal
Into the woods with faerie zeal

The sprites will dance in merry ways
Ah, captives to share Paddy's Day
Glowing bright the cauldron bubbles
With potion to ease all your troubles

Wood nymphs tend the green beer simmer
Add Irish luck for extra shimmer
A four-leaf clover does the trick
They stir in "happy" with faery sticks

Elves rise up with spirits high
Purple toads from shadows spy
Nimble divas gather fast
They know the green beer will not last

The mortal captives have a taste
They swear the brew will see no waste
St. Patrick's Day will be fulfilled
Drinking beer against their will

"Drining beer against their will?" Never! They can't force me! Well, you can't force the willing, can you?
