Many of us have become aware in recent years that eating fresh organic non pesticide food is probably beneficial to our health. It seems that so many people want scientific proof that organically grown food, that doesn't have poison sprayed on it, is better for your health.
Personally I do not need any scientist to tell me one way or the other what to eat. I know what makes me feel good and the type of food that my body is able to utilize. I like to eat foods that taste good and give me a lot of energy. Certainly I prefer fresh organic food over foods that have been stored for long periods of time or processed with a lot of preservatives. Some would say that fresh foods contain more nutrition. Logically I would think so also.
An important factor for me is that if I feel good after I eat certain foods and my body has the proper fuel to do the things I want to do, then I am satisfied with what I have eaten. I say forget about being concerned about everything that you eat. Trying to micro-manage every bite of food for political or any other reason seems noble, but I believe that the stress of trying to control everything that goes into you mouth can be more detrimental to your health in the long run. So, relax and try to eat food that makes you feel good and agrees with you. Eat fresh, raw, organic food when it is available in your area. But, most definitely grow what you can for you and your family. If not just because fresh home grown food is probably better for you, but to be less dependent on the supermarkets. It's a great feeling to work on creating a more self sustainable home for your family.
If you feel you need a little more fresh food in your diet, it isn't costly to get a sprouter and some seeds and start your own little sprout garden at home. It doesn't take up much space and adds a lot to your cuisine. Sprouts have plenty of good vitamins in them and eating them always gives me more energy. You feel more alert and its seems to take less energy to do the things you want to to. Your body will feel like its running on premium. Because it is. I have experienced it myself.
