Spruce Up Your Cubicle for the Holidays with Easy Christmas Decorations

DeeDee
Office cubicles can be pretty dull and boring work spaces unless you make an effort to make it a little more homey. The Christmas holiday is the perfect time to add simple and safe decorations to spruce up the place a bit.

Many Christmas decorations can be potential fire hazards since they use white lights as part of their charm. This, along with lit candles, is an obvious no-no in the workplace. A little creativity can take you far, though, and can have your cubicle festive in no time.

Start with colorful garland (you can find it at the dollar store) and wrap it around the tops and doorway of your cubicle. For something a little more unique, buy a strand of fake poinsettias or berries, or find holiday specific garland that has trees or some other Christmas decoration on it.

Next, if you have any pictures on the walls of your cubicles, wrap them with inexpensive wrapping paper to make them look like a present. To compliment your "new" wall decorations, take empty boxes and wrap them in the same Christmas wrapping paper and add bows. Place them on your desk and be worry free - if someone tries to steal the "gifts," they'll get a surprise since there is nothing in them!

Get a miniature fake Christmas tree and decorate it with accents from the dollar store. Remember - no lights - they are a fire hazard. Place the tree on the floor next to your desk to save room for you to work. Fake poinsettias, on top of a bookcase or the top of your hanging file cabinet, make nice additions too. Not to mention, they don't need to be watered! First, put mounds of cotton down to make it look like snow and then place the poinsettia on top it.

Since we said plugged in lights are a hazard, opt for battery operated candles that you would normally put in your windows at home. They'll fire-hazard free and will prevent anyone from tripped on long cords.

You can't decorate your cubicle without decorating your computer. Slap an over sized colorful bow on your monitor, or on your computer if your monitor is real thin, add Christmas wallpaper and a Christmas screen saver. Finally, insert a Christmas CD in the CD-Rom on your computer or launch downloaded Christmas music from iTunes to really get in the Christmas spirit. Your co-workers will be jealous of your cubicle, transformed into a Christmas wonderland.

Merry Christmas!

We have Xmas decorations contest at my workplace where each one decorates each cube and there are judges to choose the winners. It is a fun way to enjoy the holidays at work.
