Spurrier Tries to Get Second Victory Against Florida

Sidney Kane
This Saturday Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators head to Columbia, South Carolina to take on Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks. During his tenure at South Carolina Spurrier's teams have only defeated Florida once and this year doesn't look to be the second. Since the 2005 30-22 victory Spurrier has gone down three straight times. The Gamecocks are coming off two straight disappointing losses to Tennessee and Arkansas. This seems to be a continuing trend with the Gamecocks under Spurrier; they gain some national recognition and then become dreadfully inconsistant and fall off the map. The one upside for South Carolina is the fact that Florida seems to be struggling to find an identity offensively.

Even so, South Carolina will have to play a perfect game and then some if they are going to beat the Gators. As of late their defense has underperformed and they can't seem to put points on the board. The Gamecock's will need to establish a running game that has been dismal as of late. The Gamecock program under Spurrier has been better than it ever (even though he has twenty seven losses in five years at South Carolina equaling a number that took him twelve years to attain at Florida), however, they are over matched in this one.

Key Players for the Gamecocks:
Kenny Miles will need to have a big game for South Carolina. He has recently established himself as the number one back for the Gamecock's and it is very important to get him some decent holes to run through. Also, Wesley Saunders will need to find his way back into the Gamecock offense. Since having a huge game in Georgia, he has been almost invisible.

Key Players for the Gators:
Tim Tebow. If he is hot, which he probably will be, then the Gators should glide to an easy victory. Also, Spikes is coming off of his suspension, look for him to give Garcia and the Gamecock's O-Line a hard time.

The line is set at 15.5 and the Gators should have no problem covering that spread. Despite home field advantage and a planned blackout by the USC crowd, the Gamecocks just don't have the speed and fire power to overcome the Florida Gators. Look for this one is to be a blow out.

Gators 38, Gamecocks 13.

Tim Tebow invades Gamecock Nation at 3:30 PM on CBS.
