Squidoo - How to Make Even More Money: Selling Amazon Product with Text Modules

Bulletbutter
Squidoo.com is an amazing new website that allows members to interact with people that have similar interests or even make a little bit of money. However, it is not a social networking site like Myspace.com or Tagworld.com. Squidoo is more of an advertising website for your products or your ideas.

While Squidoo can be used an a way to keep in touch with friends and family, it is more geared towards advertising and selling. Upon signing up and setting up a Squidoo page you will come across several different ways to gain traffic and even a little bit of cash.

Squidoo's way of making money.
When you first log into your Squidoo account and navigate to your dashboard, you will be presented with the option to create your first lens. A lens is, more or less, a single webpage. On this webpage you can only add certain things to it; they call them modules. These modules range from simple text paragraphs to pictures and even videos. They also have a few modules that are used to bring a small amount of revenue to your account. The most popular money making module is the Amazon.com module. You can put several of these on your lens and the way they work is really unique.

Amazon.com modules.
Squidoo allows you to put as many of these on your page as you like. Earning money from these modules is a very simple process. Each time a viewer clicks on an Amazon.com product link and makes a purchase through that link, you will receive a portion of the sale. For example, if some purchases a product costing $20 from a link on your Squidoo lens, the money earned is divided 3 ways. A portion of the sale goes to Amazon.com, another portion goes to Squidoo and whatever is left goes to your account. When you accumulate $30 or more, you will receive a payment. The best part about this is that all Amazon.com modules on your site will only list products that are relevant to the content on your lens. So, if your lens is about dog training, all of the Amazon.com modules will be listing products the deal specifically with dogs and/or dog training.

While this may seem like a really good way to make a bit of cash, its a bit impractical.

Making More Money With Amazon.com through Squidoo.
Selling an Amazon.com product through the modules can bring you in some cash, but if your doing it this way, you loosing out on quite a bit of cash. Simply put, you split the total 3 ways (as stated above). So why not cut out the middle man? Amazon.com only gives 10% of the revenue you make them to Squidoo. This 10% is split between you and Squidoo. That means that you are only making 5% of the sale instead of 10%!

How to get around the 5% cut in your revenue?
The first thing I must mention is to remove all of the Amazon.com modules from all of your lenses. You do not want to take the chance of making a sale and only getting 5% instead of the full 10%. The next thing you simply must do is sign up as an Amazon Associate. It's free to join and the sign up process is extremely simple. After you have done both of these steps, start adding text modules and space them out all across your lens. You will be placing product links in these text modules.

You will have to log into your Amazon Associates account to start "building product links". Amazon Associates allows you to use several different types of product links, the only ones that you can use in a text module on Squidoo is the basic text only link. You will have to track down a photo of the product you are wanting to sell, the cost and possibly even a short description of the product. Now anytime someone clicks on an Amazon.com link in a text module that you created, you will get the full 10% of the revenue opposed to the 5% you would get if you did it with the Amazon.com module.
