"To win in 2010 and 2012, it's not enough to say no to the radical agenda of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Tonight's speech will explain why real leadership requires Republicans to offer a compelling vision of safety, prosperity, and freedom that stands in vivid contrast to Obama's secular, socialist, machine now running Washington."
Other SRLC speakers include former Oklahoma Congressman J.C. Watts, Mary Matalin, Shean Hannity, Liz Cheney, Herman Cain, Mike Huckabee, Tony Perkins, Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Mike Pence, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Haley Barbour, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, Gary Johnson, and last but not least, RNC Chairman Michael Steele.
The Southern Republican Leadership Conference is held every two to four years, and according to their website, brings top Republican activists, donors, candidates and elected officials together for three days of training, briefings, receptions and speeches from the leaders of the Republican Party.
The event is being hosted in New Orleans this year, and will be attended by delegates from 14 states including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The SRLC is considered to be the most important gathering of the Republican Party next to the national convention, especially for future candidates. Southern Republican Leadership Conference events will be streamed live online through a conference feed, and on C-SPAN.

Post a CommentBobby Jindal = the only hope for Republicans. If Palin or Newt get nomination it will be a disaster.
I like JC Watts and hope he rise in prominence in the party. I liked him even as Oklahoma QB and I was no fan of Barry Switzer, but I knew Watts a good guy, and turns out I was right too!
Now, that's a blast from the past.
I'm Impressed, you really know your stuff!
I am a Republican and I would love to see Newt run as well. I was raised Democratic but it seems they are leaning too far left for my liking in the last 10 years. Great reporting Kim, as usual.
Excellent report!
I do not see myself ever siding or voting with today's Republicans (and I have voted for some in the past), but, if they are even to get my attention, they must first, as a party, acknowledge the 8 years of horribly bad governance by G.W.. Bush and apologize to the American people for going along with it so willingly. Even so, I consider Sarah Palin a dangerous idiot and will never support a party that gives her a shot at the top job.
Newt has my vote.
It should be interesting to see that direction that the party moves from SRLC.
SRLC has been a lot of fun so far...(watching some of it on TV, I mean)..
