Masses at St. John the Baptist in Folsom
For those accustomed to attending Mass on Sunday mornings, St. John's offers three services: traditional Masses at 7:30 and 9:15 and a contemporary Mass at 11:30. There is also a Saturday evening vigil at 5:00, a Sunday evening Mass at 6:00 and several weekday Masses.
The contemporary Mass is the most popular, and if you are not early you will probably be standing throughout the service. The choir is lively, singing the traditional hymns with a modern flair-accompanied by tambourines and guitars.
The traditional Masses, on the other hand, are slightly more somber with traditional music, but very uplifting. The 9:15 Mass does fill up, but you usually do not have to stand unless you are actually late. The 7:30 Mass is usually about three-quarters full.
Father Rey delivers a thoughtful, inspirational, often witty, and charismatic service. He offers much to ponder with insights into the readings of the day, as well as whatever holy days or current events are happening. He is very personable, knowing many of the parishioners by name despite his very busy schedule.

It begins in September and culminates with the baptisms at Easter, running every Sunday after the 9:15 Mass. St. John's also offers continuing adult religious education classes and the St. John Notre Dame School for kindergartners through 8th graders.
From time to time, special workshops and retreats are offered to those who wish to further contemplate or learn about their faith.
