St Louis Halloween Haunted Houses and Spooky Tours

Loretta Snyder

Halloween is just around the corner and that means costumes, haunted houses, and things that go bump in the night. Here are a few ideas to make your Halloween "spook"tacular!

Ghostly Tour

St. Charles celebrates its haunted history by offering a guided tour of Main Street after dark. While walking along the St. Charles Ghost Tour, you may meet The Lady in White or maybe one of the lost souls from the Graveyard (the headstone were moved but the bodies were not). Tours are available on Friday and Saturday night. Reservations are REQUIRED. For more information, visit The Ghosts of St. Charles.

Haunted House

The Darkness haunted house, which has been featured on 'Modern Marvels' , Travel Channel's 'America's Scariest Haunted Attractions' and National Geographic Channel's 'Halloween Exposed, has been rated by many to be one of the best haunted houses in America. This year it promises to be even better than ever with moving floors, a mirrored maze, and scares that come at you from all directions. For more information, visit The Darkness Haunted House.

Not-So-Haunted House

The Magic House offers a Not-So-Haunted House as a safe and fun option for the younger kids. Your little ghosts and ghouls can don their costumes and trick-or-treat their way through the four levels of The Magic House. There is also a Haunted Trail for the older kids. The Not-So-Haunted House runs from October 24-26. For more information, visit The Magic House.

Costume Party

The Lemp Mansion, built in the early 1860's, is an impressive thirty-three room Victorian with a mysterious past that continues to haunt guest today. The Lemp Mansion Halloween Party promises to be loads of fun with three live bands and cash prizes for the costume contest. The Mansion also offers Haunted Tours on Monday evenings by reservation. For more information, visit The Lemp Mansion.

Classical Music

Conductor Nicholas McGegan and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra will send chills down your spine with the haunting music of Transylvanian Halloween. 'Dances of Transylvania' by Bartok and 'Dream of a Witches' Sabbath' by Berlioz are just a few of the pieces that will be presented at the concert. For more information, visit the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.

Fright Fest

The creatures of the night are on the loose at Six Flags Fright Fest. The Haunted House, mazes, and spooky shows will give you goose bumps. If you are up for some extreme fun, try the rides. These rides are always exciting, but for Fright Fest, they crank up the intensity by cutting the lights. For more information, visit Six Flags St. Louis.
