When deciding to commit to a retirement community, the important thing is to be very slow and careful, thinking ahead with as much practicality as possible. Seniors expecting to be very active for quite a while should really look into places with lots of independent activities and a population of people they can play cards, tennis, or golf with. For those who are not in such good health, services and medical needs have to be considered. Is there regular transportation available to get out and run errands or just shop? Are there therapists and exercise optiions available? Is there on-site management? These features are all going to make a difference to seniors, depending on their particular needs, and any commitment needs to be well thought out. I found some options for senior communities in the St. Louis area that offer different atmospheres and specialties for a variety of populations.
