According the the Check It Out monthy library news letter, kids ages 9 to 12, boys and girls (and their chaperones) will be part of a Harry Potter adventure that will last until early Saturday morning. That's right, it's a sleepover. Potter fans will be bringing their best jammies, comfortable pillows, a cozy blanket or sleeping bag, and toothbrush so they can Potter the night away.
Every where they turn there will be Potter fans to trade facts and favorite scenes with. Snacks will be served, and in true Hogwarts fashion there will be authentic butter beer to drink. All manner of magical Harry Potter fun will be had by all (Muggles need not attend). Honorary students of Hogwarts will have movies to watch, video games to play, trivia contests to be won, and crafts, all with Potter motifs. Do not forget your wand and familiar.
At midnight, the stroke of twelve, it will be time to open Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (registration fee is $25 that pays for a copy of the book) to the first page and enter the world of J. K. Rowling. Some will read, some will sleep but all should have a night to remember.
All who attend should leave the Hogwarts Dining Hall at 8a.m. Saturday morning with a copy of the new Harry Potter book, a belly full of butter beer, and a head full of memories.
Come back to the Main Library on July 30th at 6p.m. to enjoy an evening of Potter Rock. From Massachusetts, Harry and the Potters rock the library with their indie style tunes about the life of Harry Potter. Dressed in sweaters and black rimmed glasses the brothers, Paul and Joe DeGeorge play keyboard and guitar. Then their rivals, Draco and the Malfoys sing about life from the perspective of the misunderstood Draco Malfoy. Wielding guitars, Rhode Islanders Brian and Bradley wear the stark white shirts and dark ties of HarryĆs enemy. Souvenirs will be available.
A Night at Hogwarts Central and Potter Rock, two exciting Harry Potter events at the St. Louis Main Public Library in June. Come celebrate the phenomenon.
