St. Patrick's Day Inflated Balloon Fundraiser for Student Council

Student council members can turn St. Patrick's Day into a fundraising opportunity that benefits other school activities or programs. Combining your student body's objectives for the school year with a holiday inspired game is one way to get support from teachers, parents and students. Learn how to host an inflated balloon fundraiser for student council during St. Patrick's Day.

Setup an inflated balloon student council St. Patrick's Day fundraiser that puts a twist on the "Deal or No Deal" games. Make a tiered list of ten cash prizes starting with the largest prize amount. Create a second tiered list that includes ten non-cash prizes and combine these items with your money list. Combine both lists into one master prize list. The finished list should include twenty tiers that begin with your largest cash prize and is followed by a non-cash item. The last prize would be a non-cash item if this list is created properly.

Fill twenty green balloons and twenty yellow balloons using a helium tank or air pump and place one prize inside half of these decorations. The finished result should include ten yellow balloons that contain prizes and ten green balloons with prizes as well. Tie the ends of all balloons to keep the air inside of them. Write a different number on each filled balloon using a black marker. Display the balloons inside of a pool in the school gym, yard or a classroom designated for the fundraiser.

Student council members can also host an event in the school auditorium where volunteers can hold one balloon each while standing on the front stage. Charge a $1 admission fee to attend your fundraiser with a requirement that guests who want to play the inflated balloon game provide additional donations. The game play donations can be setup as a flat fee determined by student council while planning this fundraiser or hosted as a number of optional monetary denominations that players can choose from.

Each guest player selects one yellow balloon and one green balloon to pop. If the first of these two balloons are empty when popped, the guest has two options. He or she can accept a "deal" from one student council member dressed as the school leprechaun or reject this deal and double the initial donation to pop that second balloon. Return the second balloon to its display location in each round where a player accepts a deal. Provide the student who will play the leprechaun with a pot filled with gold coins and small gifts that can be used to make these deals. The gifts can include a variety of St. Patrick's Day items such as shamrock coffee mugs or everyday novelties such as puzzles, dart board sets or card games.
