St. Patrick's Day Parade

St. Patrick's Day Limerick Contest

Kim Keason
St. Patrick's Day in the U.S.
Green beer and no stress
I wonder if it's the same
Or a little more tame
Than the story I must confess

I marched every year in high school
Playing the trumpet was so uncool
Through sleet and snow
We waved Hello
And prayed we weren't behind a mule

We marchers in the parade
Down Main Street we'd invade
To cheers and singing
Our ears were ringing
Notre Dame's fight song we replayed

Senior year was the best
A lively fan was on a quest
He traded his beer
For my trumpet that year
But my drink was repossessed
