St. Patrick's Day Poems

Poetry for Th E Leprechauns

Chad R. Herman
Little guy

You little leprechaun,
the same one
that destroyed my
pre-school
kindergarten
1st grade
and
2nd grade classrooms.

You who threw the
chocolate gold everywhere,
and how happy
I was

cleaning up your mess.
Where are you
now?

Green

Green shamrock
green streamers
green eggs
green hats
green glasses
green ham
green
green
green
green beer
and a green
hang-over!

St. Pat

Slave,
working for his master.
Escapee,
running from his master.
Monk,
serving his master
missionary,
serving the irish isles
doing his masters
bidding -
had anything changed?

Patty stories

St. Patrick? Who's that?
The man who rid Ireland
of snakes.
The man who turned Ireland
green.
The man who freed Ireland
from the English
The man who brought to Ireland
jesus, the lord.
