St. Patrick's Day Sayings & Funny Quotes

St. Patrick's Day, which takes place in March, is Ireland's most celebrated holiday. Started out as a commemoration of a beloved Christian saint, the occasion has grown to become a celebration of Irish history and heritage. This day is observed in Irish communities around the world. Green, the color of the shamrock, is most associated with St. Patrick's Day. Ironically, this association causes some people to make a false connection between the Irish holiday and Arbor Day (which celebrates trees and greeneries). Below are ten funny St. Patrick's Day sayings (from folk tradition) for all to enjoy on this occasion.

"No one is more Irish than the Leprechaun, unless he is St. Patrick."

"If you have a snake problem, call in Saint Patrick."

"Saint Patrick was not born an Irish; he grew into one."

"St. Patrick's Day is the only holiday where green is not associated with envy."

"The Leprechaun offers you a pot of gold; Saint Patrick offers you the shamrocks. The wisest of the wise chooses the latter."

"Corned beef and cabbage are not my favorites."

"St. Patrick is to the Irish as St. Nicholas is to the Greeks."

"Why does Chicago River suddenly turn green? It's St. Patrick's Day."

"Don't fault a non-Irish person for assuming that St. Patrick's Day is the only holiday in Ireland."

"Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone of Irish descent!"
