St Patrick's Day in Seattle: Where Should You Be?

Places to Be on St Patrick's Day

Lee Aurelius
St. Patrick's Day comes once year, do you have plans on where you want to have a glass of green beer? Here is a list of places that you should look into going in Seattle. All the places listed here are great places to go on St. Patrick's day, or any day in particular. They're all within walking distance of each other, so you could try going to any or all of these Irish Pubs on St. Patrick's Day.

Fado Irish Pub
This Irish Pub is conveniently located in Pioneer Square, next to the Seattle waterfront. There is an assortment of different beers and a wide selection of Irish food. Ireland isn't particularly known for its culinary dishes, but Fado tries to make an exception by presenting interesting and appetizing meals. There is a wide arrangement of meats like Irish pork sausage, Irish bacon, and white and black pudding. Fado was also the first pub in the US to introduce Boxty, a type of well known, savory and thin potato-like pancake.

As is traditional with St. Patrick's Day, you can get a plate of corned beef and cabbage. Along with the meals and drinks, there is often live music. On days other than St. Patrick's, you could come to Fado and watch Gaelic football, which is a mix of soccer, rugby and basketball.

Kell's Irish Restaurant and Pub

Kells is one of downtown Seattle's favorite hideaways. Its located in Post Alley, above Pike Place Market. People who work in the area tend to come here after work for drinks and conversations. Kells is also a lively place at night in general and is a short walking distance to Pioneer Square, Fado and Owl 'N' Thistle. Meals include all sorts of light and filling appetizers, and seafood courses that could pass as meals. If you're searching for traditional Irish plates, you can try the different stews, roasts and pies. For those who are vegetarian, there's even non-meat and vegetarian specific platters.

Live music is common on most nights, especially St. Patrick's Day. Kells has an ongoing St. Patrick Day's Festival in Seattle that has been spanning over 20 years. A nice place to begin or end your night, you can expect many Seattle locals spending St. Patrick's day at Kells.

Owl 'N' Thistle Irish Pub

Owl 'N' Thistle is located in close vicinity to Pioneer Square and is also a favorite hang out for many people after work. The food selection here isn't quite as large as other Irish Pub's, but this is more than made up for with good beer selection at affordable prices, live music, and good company.

Owl 'N' Thistle is a relatively small venue which creates more intimate settings but at the same time there's plenty of air space to talk and hear conversations. This Irish Pub is regularly full on most nights, and would be a good place to either start or end St. Patrick's Day in Seattle at one point.
