Toddlers really need crafts that are quick and easy. With their attention span
being so short, you do not want a project that will take an hour, or even a
half an hour. If it isn't something they can make in 15 minutes, you've lost
their attention.
Below are some crafts that are quick and easy. I am sure you will find a few
here to do with your little one.
Sponged Shamrock...
Paper plate
Sponge
Green paint
Pinking sheers or decorative scissors
Cut a 3 inch heart out of a sponge. With green paint sponge three hearts on
to a paper plate with points together to form a Shamrock. Take the side of
the sponge and sponge a stem on the bottom of the shamrock. Cut out with
pinking sheers.
Shamrock Lacing Card...
Green card stock or poster board (or card board from cereal or Kleenex box,
colored green)
Clear contact paper
Long shoelace
Scissors
Hole punch
Draw a shamrock on a piece of card stock, cover front and back with piece
of clear contact paper. Cut out shamrock and with hole punch put in desired
amount of holes around shamrock. Give your child a long shoelace and let
them practice their skills.
Paper Plate Shamrock...
3 paper plates
Green marker or crayon
Green construction paper
Glue
Scissors
Color all three paper plates. Cut a stem from the green construction paper.
Glue the three paper plates together in a triangular form and glue the stem on
the bottom.
Glitter Shamrocks...
Shamrock shaped cookie cutter
Green paint
Piece of paper
Elmer's glue
Glitter
Mix equal amounts of paint and glue. Put paint mixture into a shallow
plastic dish or gallon ice cream cover. Have child dip the cookie cutter into
the paint and press onto a piece of paper. After child has made the desired
amount of shamrocks, sprinkle with glitter.
(If you do not have a shamrock cookie cutter, you can show them how to
make a shamrock from a heart cookie cutter.)
Shamrock Necklace...
Green construction paper
24" of yarn
Scissors
Hole punch
Draw or trace a shamrock on a piece of green construction paper. Cut out
and punch a hole in the top of the shamrock. Take yarn and put through hole,
tie ends together to make necklace.

Fun project!
You are absolutely correct on the attention span. Good article. We frequently forget and ask kids to do projects that require a lot of time. This one sounds fun and quick!
Terrific! I'll pass this on to my son for my grandkids!
