Regardless of age, the Pier Aquarium has something for everyone, captivating the attention of toddlers to teens to adults. The aquarium combines fun learning facts with interactive activities. A family of four can spend several hours at the aquarium without ever becoming bored, yet still want to return for more. The entrance price limits frequent trips, but the adventure is worth more than one visit.
The Pier Aquarium is a self-guided tour that allows your group to fully explore the many aquariums of marine life at any desired pace. Read the plaques at each to learn about eels, crabs, and exotic fish native to Tampa Bay. Discover the habitat of balloon fish, moray eels, and the giant clam.
Along the way, discover the hurricane exhibit where you can not only see the paths of various hurricanes through the years, but also satellite photos of each. Learn how hurricanes are formed, what increases their strength, and how meteorologists attempt to track their movements.
Schedule your trip from 1 - 4pm any day of the week to partake of the "touch tanks." Children of any age have the opportunity to touch and sometimes hold hermit crabs, starfish, and other select varieties of marine life. Staff are on hand to create a safe environment for both animals and children. They are also experts who gladly answer questions and provide unique facts about each critter while engaging parents in the fun.
The St. Petersburg Aquarium at the Pier is one of the most popular attractions in the St. Petersburg area. Call Ahead or visit the web site to take advantage of special events and discounts.
