Stability Ball Workouts are a Must for Any Exercise Routine

I added stability ball workouts to my regular exercise routine a little over a year ago, I heard the stability ball was really good for working core muscles and flexibility.

Stability balls come in many brands, colors and types, the sizes vary as well, most balls come with a pump and workout chart. The stability ball comes in many sizes, the basic sizes being 55cm, 65 cm and 75 cm, the sizes are based on a persons height. I use a 55cm ball as I'm short, there are even stability balls for children to use. Stability balls range in price , this could be anywhere from $10.00 to at least $35.00. There are many DVD's and video's which will teach you about ball workouts as well.

Stability balls are a wonderful addition to any workout or a great workout on their own. The balls are great for stretching, toning, tightening your body and the ball is wonderful for strengthening the abdominal muscles. The stability ball works every muscle group and you will develop tighter quads, hamstrings and glute muscles, you can also effectively work the upper body as well, building stronger biceps, triceps and pectoral muscles.

Starting a ball workout routine is not an easy task at first, balance is the key and beginners need to learn when first starting out on the ball, you will be very wobbly at first and even fall of the ball a few times, I know I did, but as you practice the balance part will improve each time you workout. at some point down the line you will want to add hand weights and rubber bands to the ball workout, which will make for an even more challenging workout. I really enjoy working out on my stability ball and feel so refreshed after a workout. I feel my muscles had a really good stretch and makes me feel more flexible. I also find there are a few exercises that are easier to do on the ball rather than the traditional way. That being said I feel I get a better result with doing a particular exercise on the ball, rather than struggling the old way to preform it correctly, thus risking possible injury to a muscle.

If you are looking for an effective yet fun way to work out, I would defiantly suggest trying a stability ball workout. I think you will find that you will tone and tighten up rather quickly, depending on how many days you work out. You will also notice quite a difference in flexibility, not to mention more energy. I will tell you something else that is fun to do on the ball, I like to turn on the tv or some music and just play around making up dance moves sitting in the ball, plus you can use small hand weights to work the arms as well, and it still works all the muscles and you still get a little mini workout in, this is great for when you are not in the mood for a regular workout.

Of course as with any workout you should start out slow and take your time, and in no time you will begin to see great results, I know I have. I'm very pleased with the results working out on my ball.
