Sometimes the sun shines
Blinding you to all but the truth
Powerful and overwhelming
It tears you to pieces and scatters
You in the wind
Only to have the sky shift again
And the rain pour down
Melting it all away
Everything but the pain
And no pill, no song
No touch
Heals you like it once did
Fall into a corner and cry
No amount of prayers
Or alcohol
Can tell you why you do the things you do
Or are who you are
Because you run from the sunshine
Living your self-made lie
Losing every part of the you you once knew
Lost in a world you don't recognize
And looking up you see a knife slice down
Scream a silent scream
Drenched in sweat, shaken to the core
Oh so glad to be awake again
Lie back and cry
Clinging to the shadows
