Stades Farm Shades of Summer Festival a Fall Event in McHenry County

Stades Farm offers weekends of fun in Spring Grove, in the far northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. The farm, located in McHenry County, is holding their Shades of Autumn Festival on Saturdays and Sundays through October 31, 2010, ending on Halloween weekend. The festival is also open on the Monday of Columbus Day weekend, for a three-day weekend. Admission and parking to the Shades of Autumn Festival is free.

Shades of Autumn features rides, farm attractions, food, games and a farm stand. Shades Farm is a great place to pick up your Halloween pumpkin and healthy fruits and vegetables for your dinner table.

The farm is decorated with corn stalks and huge pumpkins. On the grounds are games and rides for children. This is a family friendly event where children can play and see a working farm at the same time.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin begins on Saturday September 25. A tractor and wagon pulls the visitors out the pumpkin patch so they can have the experience of picking out their own Halloween pumpkins. What fun for the kids!

The special pumpkin stimulus package for the 2010 season is the $5 pick your own pumpkin event. For $5 you can take the hayride out to the pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin. If you can pick and lift the pumpkin yourself you can take it. The $5 fee includes the hayride and one pumpkin.

If you do not want to pick your own pumpkin there is a large selection of pumpkins already picked near the farm stand. Prices for pumpkins vary by size and weight.

"Shades of Autumn" is the annual Fall Festival at Stade's Farm & Market. Located in McHenry County in northern Illinois, Shades of Autumn is a great place to bring the whole family to enjoy nature's bounty, plus great entertainment, during the most beautiful time of the year. During Shades of Autumn you can experience a day on the farm filled with family fun.

Stades Farm & Market has hosted the Shades of Autumn Festival since 1995. Attractions include the hayride, pumpkin picking, a petting zoo, mazes, pumpkin train, pumpkin cannon demonstration, food and the farm stand with fresh picked produce. The farm stand also sells home made pies and fresh cider donuts. There is a farm food court offering sandwiches, caramel apples and snacks.

Every Sunday morning during the Shades of Autumn festival the farm hosts an open-air Christian worship and praise service and contemporary music. The worship services, led by different local churches, are held at 10:00 am.
