Stagecoach Hotel and Casino in Beatty, Nevada: Review

Stagecoach Hotel and Casino is a Hot Spot for Death Valley National Park Visitors

Jessie Kay
Nevada's casinos aren't just found Las Vegas or Reno--small communities across the state, including Beatty, are home to casinos. Beatty --a town with only 1,000 residents -- is located approximately 115 north of Las Vegas and is known as the gateway to Death Valley National Park. It is home to the Stagecoach Hotel and Casino, a popular destination for residents and Death Valley visitors alike. Here's a look at this hotel and casino.

Stagecoach Hotel and Casino: About the Casino
With live blackjack, Texas Hold 'Em poker, Big 6 and craps, Stagecoach Hotel and Casino is an ideal option for live table game fans. Additionally, gamblers can sit down at one of over 200 video poker and slot machines or bet on a sporting event at the on-site sports book. The slot machines are fairly up-to-date and include popular themes such as "Wheel of Fortune" and "I Dream of Jeanine." At the time of my visit, an entire section of video slot machines were out of order, but the casino corralled them all together and roped them off.

The casino is very smokey and lacks a non-smoking section. As someone who is sensitive to smoke, this bothered me quite a bit. Because of this, I didn't spend much time in the casino. I threw a few bucks in a slot machine here and there, but that was about it.

Stagecoach Hotel and Casino: Other entertainment:
Though gambling its biggest draw, it only scratches the surface of the options and entertainment found on the property. Take a break from gaming and enjoy a meal at Rita's Cafe, a 24-hour diner serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stagecoach Hotel and Casino has its own house band, "The Enchanters," playing in the lounge every Thursday through Sunday night. Families with children will appreciate the kid-friendly arcade adjacent to the gaming floor, loaded with video games.

Stagecoach Hotel and Casino: About the Hotel
The Stagecoach Hotel offers both smoking and non-smoking rooms. We stayed in a non-smoking room. The room had your basic hotel amenities. It wasn't anything special, but it was clean--and that's what counts! All rooms include a refrigerator and air conditioning. When you book a room, you're allowed access to the outdoor pool and sun deck. The pool area is small, but clean--and it's a perfect getaway from the smokey areas of the casino.
