In fact, as a satellite city to New York, Stamford's best sushi places could compete with the best sushi restaurants that even Manhattan has to offer.
Stamford has an affluent workforce and population to draw upon, so upscale sushi places thrive, but there is plenty of value to be found in Stamford's sushi restaurants as well.
The following is a list and description of the four best sushi restaurants in Stamford, Connecticut.
Kiku Sushi
1074 Hope Street
Stamford, Connecticut
Known for equal parts its charm (you could almost pretend you're in Tokyo while inside), its excellent menu with outstanding sushi, and its value based, if not cheap, pricing, Kiku Sushi is one of the best known and popular sushi restaurants in Stamford, Connecticut.
While most probably identify as a great lunch special place (its specials change daily), the sushi here is outstanding and it's a good place for dinner as well, if not a trendy place.
The Bento Box specials are rather standard, but offer an outstanding value.
Kiku Sushi also offers Japanese entrees, as well as some standard American style seafood with a hint of Japanese flair. Even if somebody in your party does not care for sushi, there is plenty to select from here.
Kujaku
84 West Park Place
Stamford, Connecticut
While Kiku Sushi offers a relatively authentic atmosphere and value based pricing, Kujaku is a place to go for a night on the town or a business dinner. Make no mistake, the sushi here is very good, but the fact is most are going here for the scene, the drinks (it offers an excellent bar scene) and whole Japanese themed dining experience in the middle of a trendy area of Stamford.
While not expensive by Manhattan standards, Kujaku is not a place to go for a cheap experience. But the food, the scene and the service combine to justify the prices, which can range from $18 to $30 per person between entrees and appetizers.
Kona Grill
230 Tresser Boulevard
Stamford, Connecticut
While I admit that I'm a bit of an "anti-chain restaurant snob", I also have to admit that I really enjoy Kona Grill, in Stamford and elsewhere.
I think Kona does as good of a job as paying attention to the details of its food as it does to creating a national brand. The food here is outstanding; it offers an aggressively priced children's menu as well as menus for the nutrition conscious. Gluten free selections, for example, are one of the popular options.
While Kona Grill offers all manner of Japanese food, the signature dish is the sushi. While on the same menu as pizza of all things, they still manage to provide sushi as fresh and well prepared as anywhere in Stamford. I highly recommend Kona Grill whether for a night out with your spouse, family or a business meeting.
So if you live or work in the Stamford, Connecticut and enjoy good sushi restaurants, you have plenty of excellent options.

Post a CommentThis guy is clueless. First of all the article says its a list of 4 but there are only 3. Second of all Kujaku might have decent sushi, but the place is a dump and has a non existent "bar scene". As for Kona Grill, their sushi is the worst I have ever had. Fin II is my favorite in Stamford (not mentioned), Kotobuki (also not mentioned is good as well). Kiku is the only one I agree with.
I agree. Kiku is awesome. I eat there weekly. It's the best sushi in Stamford in my opinion. Better than most places in Manhattan as well (I work in NY). It's just great! Consistently good.
