Stand Up America, Stop These Embarrassing Envoys

When the President, any President, represents us before the Olympic committee, I'm in support. When James Inhofe goes to Copenhagen to deny global climate change, America is embarrassed in the public arena.

Sensible Americans ARE compassionate, they want America to succeed, and they don't want their neighbors to go bankrupt over health emergencies. STAND UP my fellow Americans. Do it now! Tell the whackos to stop pretending that they represent us. Tell the hypocrites to get a conscience.

If Ronald Reagan had pitched the Olympics for Chicago Illinois, he would have had every American backing him. (Reagan was born in Tampico Illinois, west of Chicago). Yet when our President represented us in Copenhagen, right-wing extremists in this country usually known for their nationalist tendencies, were cheering for the competition. It was as if the Miracle at Lake Placid never occurred.

And if this distasteful display of partisanship wasn't enough, the same hypocrites are now defying dyed- in-the-wool GOP policy to oppose health insurance reform.

Congressmen and Senators who have been beating us over the head with the "Reagan years", are now arguing against health care reform...and they're using the argument that they are defending MEDICARE! Ronald Reagan began fighting Medicare in lthe early 1960's, and never quit. There is a 40 year history of Medicare opposition from the GOP. Do not listen when they cite "potential Medicare cuts" as a reason to oppose health insurance reform, they've never supported Medicare before.

Today, a scientist fired by the Bush Administration for supporting stem-cell research...won the Nobel Prize in medicine.

We must stand by our fellow Americans, even those less fortunate than we are.

We must stand by America's Nobel-prize winning scholars, even when extremists are denying science.

We must stand by democratically elected leaders throughout the world.

And we must call lthe hypocrites out. When Congressman Mark Kirk goes to China and says the USA is NOT trustworthy...we must disavow that traitor. When Sen. DeMint backs a military coup in Honduras, we must call him on the carpet. If ACORN is going to be prosecuted for misusing federal funds, that's OK, but let's go after gross thieves like Hallibirton and Kellog Brown & Root too.

When they try to feed us lies about how health care works, we must speak truth to power: The US already pays more than any other country for health care, and we don't live as healthy or as long as those other people, like the French, English or Canadians who are getting it right!
