Stand Up for Your Constitutional Rights - They Are God Given

"In the beginning, God created..."

-Genesis chapter 1:1

If you believe in God and that God created all of us and that the bible is a representation of the belief in God, then we must start with the beginning of the story. In the beginning of the story, God did something, he "created". If you believe that we are all made in his image, as I do believe, then this is the beginning of my story and I too must "create". Too often we hear people talk of God as a religion as if Christians own "God" or have the exclusive right to God. I will speak in much broader terms than ownership.

The majority of earth's human inhabitants believe in a sort of God or higher power that is separate from man and all-powerful. Most human beings believe that they have a creator and that their life in some form is influenced by this higher power. This concept has been passed down through the ages and helps our different societies cope with issues of value, morality, and sense of purpose.

The founders of our nation had a deep belief in God and governed their personal and public lives based on their deep belief in a God that directed us, watched over us, and ultimately judged us. The actual founding of the United States of America was based on our forefathers own persecution by a government that would not allow them to worship or live their life the way they wanted to live. Our forefathers believed that the people should not be told by the government how they should live their life or how and when they should worship their God.

I thank God every day for the founders of this nation. Anyone who has been to another country or has known someone from another country knows that America stands separate and leads the world because of our inclusive and modern approach to the God given freedoms for our people. It is not a fluke or misunderstanding that drives millions of people around the world to flock to our nation for citizenship and safe haven. It may be debated by leaders around the world whether Americans are reasonable and fair to other governments, however at the end of the day those same leaders want help and support from America and they watch as their own citizens want to become "American". I am not concerned with fairness, because the definition of civil and fair and justice is different around the world in comparison to what Americans try to achieve. We really do want "the people" to thrive, to be happy, to find value and sense of purpose. We really don't want any one group or set of people to have too much power over anyone else. We have and continue to stand as a beacon of the "best system" on earth for governing "the people". We are one of the only nations on the earth that will accept anyone and try to give them a better life than where they came from. I will not apologize for the greatness of our American democracy. I am so proud to be an American. The world knows that and wants that just as we do. They want that pride and sense of purpose.

We are at a strange time in our history. Our forefathers stood up and risked their lives, livelihoods, and freedom to "create" something better for themselves and their family's future. There is always a cycle in life and we are the time where it is our turn to stand up and fight for our freedoms and if necessary risk our lives and livelihoods to secure those freedoms for ourselves, our children, and the future of our citizens. We are the stewards of our constitution. We may have never thought we would have to stand up and fight for our constitutional rights. When the moment arrives, which it has, are we willing to do what is necessary to preserve our republic? When the government has gone awry and has become a group that does too much talking and legislating and not enough listening, are you willing to speak loudly and consistently to ensure they hear us? Are you willing to "create" the action necessary to protect each other and our children and their children's children?

Get involved quickly. The pendulum is swinging away from us much faster than we all realize. Take action, be heard. Ask "why" from our leaders. Don't let anyone steer you away from answers that affect all of us in such profound ways that our very way of life will transform into a country we don't recognize and we'll be wondering how we lost our freedoms when our eyes were closed or we weren't really paying attention.

I believe in God, and I will let him give me guidance at home, at work, and in holding my government accountable to the decisions that affect my family. My government is in place to make sure I have those rights, not to tell me when or how to use my rights, or what my rights are. The government doesn't decide what my rights are, my rights are God given and are for the people.
