The Avery 5160 White Laser Address Labels with Easy Peel and the Staples White Multipurpose Address Labels are exactly the same size. The labels of each brand are 1" x 2 5/8" exactly. They both come with 3,000 labels per package and 30 labels per sheet. When comparing the sheets side by side there is virtually no difference between them. Once affixed to an envelope I doubt anyone would be able to tell any difference between them at all.
The layout for both the Staples White Multipurpose Address Labels and the Avery 5160 White Laser Address Labels with Easy Peel are compatible with Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, and Avery LabelPro and more. Software that works for the Avery labels will also work for the Staples labels. A formatted labels document will print equally well on either the Staples or the Avery labels because the size and layout of the labels is exactly the same. So if you have a saved document that you have printed on the Avery labels in the past, next time you could print that same document on Staples labels and it would work just fine. In fact, the package of the Staples labels even indicates that they are comparable to the Avery 5160 labels and notes that they are compatible with Avery LabelPro.
One difference I did find between the Staples White Multipurpose Address Labels and the Avery 5160 White Laser Address Labels with Easy Peel is, well, the Easy Peel. The Easy Peel is a new feature of the Averyâ labels. This feature allows the columns of the Avery labels to separate. This exposes the edge of the labels and makes it easy to lift the individual labels from the backing. It is a clever idea but rather unnecessary in my opinion. The reason I find this feature unnecessary is that the labels from both the Staples brand and the Avery brand are not difficult to remove from the backing in the first place. The Staples labels easily lift from the backing as do the Avery labels even without separating the columns to use the Easy Peel feature.
The major difference between the Avery 5160 White Laser Address Labels with Easy Peel and the Staples White Multipurpose Address Labels is, as you might have guessed, price! The Avery labels cost almost 45% more than the Staples labels! You can get 3,000 of the Avery labels for $25.99 and 3,000 of the Staples labels for $17.99. Why would you want to pay $8.00 more for a product of the same quality? I certainly wouldn't.
So, the next time you need some address labels, don't automatically reach for the well known Avery brand. Give the Staples White Multipurpose Address Labels a try. Even if saving money's not important to you, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the quality of the Staples labels and you can always send the $8.00 you save to me!
