Star and Bucwild Will Return to New York Radio

Controversial DJs Star and Buc Wild are set to return to the airwaves. Press Releases indicate that the DJ team will begin working on a new radio station called "Pulse 87" based out of New York. Pulse 87 will be a variety music station covering hip hop, dance, pop, rock and Top 40 Hits. Pulse 87 is owned by the Mega Media Group.

Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, was excited about having a chance to rejoin the radio community. "I am excited to return to the New York City airwaves and look forward to working with Mega Media Group and Pulse 87," said Troi Torain, professionally known as "Star." "Times have changed and I am ready to deliver the great entertainment that my listeners have come to expect from me, while also offering responsible social commentary. The Star & Buc Wild journey continues!" Buc Wild's real name is Timothy Joseph and is Torain's stepbrother.

Star and Buc Wild were on air from 2000 to 2006 in New York City. At one point they even eclipsed the Howard Stern Show in terms of ratings and listeners. Mega Media Group cited the Star and Buc Wild Show's past successes as a sign of things to come. "Star & Buc Wild are seasoned, national radio personalities who will help to build the Pulse 87 brand," stated Alex Shvarts, CEO of Mega Media Group. "The show will fill what we believe is a void in the New York City marketplace and will act as the driver for the station's launch."

Despite all those successes, Star and Buc Wild faced heavy controversy several times, most often ending in removal from the airwaves. Torain made on-air threats to a rival DJ's daughter in May of 2006 while working for Clear Channel Radio. Torain allegedly called DJ Envy's wife a "slant-eyed whore" and threatened to urinate on his four year-old daughter. He was arrested but then the charges were later dismissed. In December 2005 The duo were suspended by Philadelphia's Power 99 FM (another Clear Channel Communications Station) for a skit involving racially-charged remarks towards a call center employee located in India. Controversy was also caused when Star and Buc Wild were making fun of a Chinese delivery man's death in 2002.

In 2001, Star and Buc Wild were suspended from New York's Hot 97 FM for using plane crash sounds after singing star Aliyah's death in a plane crash.
