Star Trek Blu-Ray and Two-Disc DVD Contain Nine Deleted Scenes, Many Extras
Single Disc Release Contains Only One Documentary, Gag Reel
Star Trek will be available as a three-disc Blu-Ray, a two-disc DVD, and a single-disc DVD. Both the Blu-Ray and two-disc DVD editions feature nine deleted scenes with optional commentaries.
The nine deleted scenes on the Blu-Ray and two-disc DVD are:
*Spock's birth
*The Klingons (not seen in the feature film) take over Narada
* Young Kirk, Johnny and Uncle Frank
*Amanda (Wynnona Ryder) and Sarak (Ben Cross) arguing after Spock fights
*A prison interrogation and breakout
*Sarek gets Amanda
*Dorm Room and Kobayashi Maru (original alternative versions of scenes shown in the movie)
*Kirk apologizing to the Green Girl
*Sarek seeing Spock (Leonard Nimoy)
In addition the Blu-Ray and two-disc DVD feature loads of special features, commentaries, documentaries and extras.
Out of these, the single-DVD contains only one documentary feature, an overview for the film called A New Vision, and the movie gag reel.
The Blu-Ray and two-disc DVD each contain the gag reel and the New Vision documentary, plus the following extras:
*Film commentaries by J.J. Abrams, writers Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman, producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Bryan Burk
*A digital copy of the feature film
*A documentary called To Boldly Go about the strategies of the director, writers, and producers in making the film
*A documentary on the film's casting also containing a tribute to Leonard Nimoy
*A documentary on the design of the aliens in the film
*A documentary on the film's music score and how composer Michael Giacchino created new music while incorporating the Star trek theme
*A DVD-Rom featuring a free trial Star trek XBOX game and web links to free trial games for PlayStation and PC
Additional extras available on the Blu-Ray only include:
*A BD-Live feature giving viewer access to the actual current news about NASA.
*A documentary on the construction and design of the starships in the film, including an explanation of the warp technology
*A documentary on the locations used for the different planets in Star Trek
*A documentary on the props and costumes in the movie
*A documentary with the director, producers and cast talking about the Star Trek creator called Gene Roddenberry's Vision
*A Starfleet Vessel Simulator featuring 360 degree views of the starship

Fun!! Loved the movie - good entertainment there. I'm seriously excited about the warp technology. I have an ongoing debate with a friend about the use of carbon in light sabers. Yup. I'm that much of a geek. Excellent stuff, Jeffrey.
Not a Trekie myself but have 4 adult 'children' that I know would enjoy seeing the missing scenes - may have get as family gift to enjoy together.
Well, I was going to go cheap and buy the single disc, but now you've talking me into shelling out for the double. Shucks. But I'm excited to see the deleted scenes!
