STAR WARS the CLONE WARS: A REVIEW

Must See Movie of the Year

Cindi Starr
The line for "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" wound around the outside of the mall at 8:00 p.m. By the opening at midnight, the crowds flowed out into the parking lot to see the latest Lucas Star Wars production. Even in the heat "Star Wars" fans turned out in droves. My anticipation was heightened by the crowds. Let me assure you before you read on that this review does not include any spoilers. I wouldn't want to ruin the experience for anyone.

This film is 98 minutes of action packed thrills. It was great to see Obi-Wan Kenobi again, especially animated. This film picks up the lapse in time between "Episode II: Attack of the Clones" and "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith". It does a wonderful job of answering many questions that weren't revealed in either film.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is a Lucas Film Warner Brothers film, which in itself says it is going to be original.

This movie stays true to the spirit of the six movie series. This Star Wars film is animated with the highest quality computer animation out. It was spectacular. Changes of the characters are rendered in 3D. Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Count Dooku and all the others look like high dollar action figures. The world in which they live and fight is full of electric colors that heighten the watchers enthusiasm. The characters actually appear to have an anime look about them, which brings this episode of "Star Wars" into the modern age of animation. If you have seen the latest Beowulf film, the animation is superior akin to that movie.

I can't say much more without giving away some of the story line and plot. But I will give you a hint that Jabba the Hutt isn't the only Hutt in town. The exotic locals, vehicles, and other gadgets are completely amazing in this film. The battle scenes are worth every penny of the ticket price. This is a movie that will go down as a classic, just like the first "Star Wars". The entire movie was filled with energy. Another thing I really enjoyed about this film was that the character of Anakin Skywalker really reminded me of Luke Skywalker from the original "Star Wars". Also, Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role (except as a voice over this time), as the Jedi Master, Mace Windu.
If you think this is just a rerun of the cartoon version of "Star Wars", think again. The script was written by Henry Gilroy, and directed by Dave Filoni (working closely beside Lucas) does a phenomenal job creating a new and modern legacy for the future of the "Star Wars".

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is rated PG-13 due to the fighting scenes. This is a must see for the end of the summer movie season and is the best movie I have seen throughout the summer. I know I'll eagerly be awaiting the next movie in this action packed series. On a scale of 1-10, this movie is certainly a 9+. May the force be with you.

I can't believe it! Someone who actually agrees with me about the Clone Wars! Most Star Wars fans say the original series (the old ones) were much better and the new ones are horrible. I think it is quit the opposite. Great review!

Good review - I'm a big Star Wars fan, but I'm not sure how I would feel about this animated version. I will probably end up waiting for the DVD.
