I wound up getting a coupon for any Starbucks Ice Cream so I decided to try the Mocha Frappuccino flavor last week, because I like the Mocha Frappuccino drink. The pint looks similar to a Starbucks coffee cup. It's mostly white and the side of it has an 'X' marked into boxes under 'Coffee' and 'Chocolate.' The lid is trimmed in burgundy and has a picture of how the ice cream looks inside.
Mocha Frappuccino contains cream, skim milk, water, sugar, cocoa pressed with alkali, egg yolk, Starbucks Coffee concentrate, vanilla extract, caramelized sugar, guar gum, and locust bean gum.
One half cup contains 220 calories and 120 fat calories. There are 13g of total fat, 8g of saturated fat, and 0g of trans fat in this ice cream. It also contains 55mg of cholesterol, and 65mg of sodium. There are 23 grams of carbs in one serving, less than 1g of fiber, 20g of sugar and 3g of protein in this ice cream.
Starbucks claims that the Mocha Frappuccino Ice Cream is a "rich, velvety, smooth Coffee ice cream swirled with creamy, decadent Chocolate ice cream. It's deliciously indulgent - and very Starbucks."
The Mocha Frappuccino ice cream looked pretty delicious when I opened the lid, it's a swirl of caramel colored coffee ice cream and a dark brown chocolate ice cream.
Normally I don't like the taste of either coffee or chocolate ice creams because they're too bitter, but I really enjoyed the Starbucks' version. It tastes very similar to the sweet Mocha Frappuccino drink, only richer and less watery.
The coffee portion is quite smooth, it has a roasted, slightly bitter taste, but it's sweet and creamy enough for me to enjoy. The chocolate ice cream is also rich and sweet and it goes well with the coffee, overall it's a delicious and enjoyable dessert.
In the End...
Whenever I'm in the mood for a sweet, yet savory ice cream I'd definitely consider buying the Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino again - but only if it's on sale. I just refuse to pay $5 for a pint of ice cream, I don't care how good it is. But I'd recommend it to a Starbucks lover because a cup of coffee can cost around that price, and at least the ice cream will last longer. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
