Starbucks: A Poem

Farah Bazzrea
A cute couple amble by,
Canes in hand,
A flat-topped youth in khaki shorts
Waits for his order,
A mother and teenage daughter meander,
Browsing gift items,
While baristas brew their magic potions.

A grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter,
Three generations to please,
Two hipster guys in baggy jeans and T's,
Clean cut and polite,
Carry out two cups each,
Pastries in a bag,
Orders from the boss.

A ball cap, raveled khakis, worn tennies,
"Hey Man!" eating quickly,
A breakfast taco from next door,
Gulping his Starbucks,
"Later" to his friend.
A young lady in sweats,
Let's see what she gets.

Cell phones, laptops,
Books, notepads and pens.
In and out, wandering about,
Cool tunes throughout,
All sizes, shape, ages and weight,
All the same,
Starbucks fans they remain.
